Dersin Amacı

In this comprehensive course, students will delve into the complex and pressing issue of human migration in a globalized world, with a special focus on the nuanced processes of migration and social cohesion. Through a structured examination of migration patterns, legislation, and individual rights, the course will explore the socio-political implications and challenges that arise within host nations, particularly examining Turkey's response to the influx of refugees and migrants.

İçerik

Students will critically engage with key theories, policies, and practices surrounding migration and international protection. They will dissect global trends and the roles of pivotal actors, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and scrutinize the rights of migrants, including irregular migrants and asylum seekers. The course will employ a range of methodologies, including case studies, policy analysis, and field trips, to provide students with a holistic understanding of the content

Öğretim Yöntemleri

Key to this course is the emphasis on participatory learning and real-world application. Students will have the opportunity to present their research, engage in discussions about multiculturalism and social cohesion, and evaluate various national approaches to integration, such as those of Canada, the United States, and Germany. Ultimately, this course aims to equip students with the analytical tools and knowledge necessary to contribute to the development of inclusive and effective migration policies and to foster an understanding of the importance of social cohesion in diverse societies.
