Antik Çağ'da ortaya çıkan siyasal, askeri, toplumsal, dini ve ekonomik nitelikli isyanlarla krizlerin nedenleri, sonuçları ve devletlerin bunlara karşı aldıkları tedbirlerin incelenmesi ve tanımlanması.

Ders öncelike hâkimiyet teorileri, isyan, kriz ve benzeri kavramların tanımlarını vermektedir. Ardından önce Yunan, ardından Roma dünyasında isyan, huzursuzluk, kriz olarak tanımlanan olaylar incelenecektir. Ayrıca böyle olayların karşısında devletlerin ve yetkililerin ne gibi önemler aldıkları da tartışılacaktır.
