This course aims to teach dental students the fundamental concepts in biochemistry and medical biology, helping them understand how cellular metabolism, genetic structure, enzymes, and biological processes function. Students will grasp the significance of biochemical processes and cellular structure in dental applications and will have learned the biological foundations related to clinical practice.
The course begins with the basic concepts of biochemistry and an introduction to cellular biology. It focuses on the structure of cells, metabolic processes, genetic structure, and biochemical reactions. Additionally, carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism, DNA structure, and genetic topics are explored. The course ensures students understand the biochemical and genetic processes encountered in dentistry, and teaches how to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice.
Theoretical Lectures: Core topics in biochemistry and medical biology are covered through lectures and interactive discussions. Laboratory Applications: Students learn experimental processes in small groups in the laboratory. Assignment Presentations: Students prepare assignments on biochemistry and medical biology topics and present them, enhancing their communication skills.
