Learning how international law functions through international courts
International law is created and applied mainly by states in order to regulate states' conduct in their relations. Sometimes a dispute arises when states could not agree on the application or the interpretation of the relevant international rule applicable in their relations. International adjudication is an option for states for such circumstances. Therefore, analysing international case law, which is a secondary source of international law per se, is one of the methods to understand how this particular area of law functions.
