Sosyoloji alanında seçme giriş okumalarına dayanarak bu derste amaçlanan husus öğrencilerin İngilizcedeki sosyoloji literatürünün temel kavramlarını kazanmaları, gelecek çalışmaları için uluslar arası bir dilsel yeterliliğe ulaşmaları, sosyoloji disiplininin İngilizce'deki temel kavramlarını tanımaları ve sosyoloji literatürünün evrensel birikimini keşfetmeleridir.
