Policy studies are distinguished from other sort of political sciences subjects. They focus on what political community should do instead of should be. The public policy process is all about identifying problems, choosing certain policies over others to address them, in order to find a solution that promote public satisfaction. Multiple public actors contribute to the policy making process. This course focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects of the public policy. It covers the models and theories of public policy as well as public problems, policy formulation, assessment of policy alternatives, design of policy instrument, and assessment of outcomes.
