The course aims at studying ex-soviet Caucasian Central Asian republics` societal and political structures from historical, sociological, political and economic perspectives within an interdisciplinary approach. Caucasian and Central Asian republics consist of Azerbaijan/ Armenia/ Georgia and Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The course aims at studying ex-soviet Caucasian Central Asian republics` societal and political structures from historical, sociological, political and economic perspectives within an interdisciplinary approach. Caucasian and Central Asian republics consist of Azerbaijan/ Armenia/ Georgia and Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The course will cover pre-soviet and soviet period but mostly focuses on post-soviet developments in social, economic, cultural and ideological spheres. Foreign policies of the countries of the region, problems between them and their relation with the foreign countries with an interest and engagement in the region will be analyzed. This part will focus on Turkeys` relation with the region and the outcomes of the Turkish foreign policy towards Caucasus and Central Asia.
