Dersin Amacı

Bu derste, Yunan Klasik Çağı’nda (yak. MÖ 5.-4. yüzyıllar) tyrannia'nın tarihsel olarak Yunan düşüncesindeki algılanışı ele alınır. Tyrannia, dēmokratia'nın bir siyasi seçenek olarak tercih edilmeye başlamasının hemen öncesinde ve dēmokratia ile eşzamanlı bir şekilde ortaya çıkmıştır. Tyrannia algısındaki dönüşüm bu ders kapsamında, özellikle Ksenophon'un Hiēron ē Tyrannikos başlıklı eseri temel bir kalkış noktası olarak kabul edilir. Bu kalkış noktasında tyrannia'nın toplumun gözündeki durumu ve gelişen Yunan ahlak düşüncesi içinde nasıl temellendirildiği ayrıntılı olarak irdelenir.
